A Panasonic jelentősen bővíti a VIERA plazma- és LCD TV termékcsaládját. Az új termékvonal mind plazma, mind LCD TV-ket tartalmaz nyolc különféle sorozatban: Z1, V10, G15, G10, S10, X15/X10 és C10.

 

 
Mindegyik új modell rendelkezik csúcsminőségü képkezelési funkciókkal, amelyek a mozi- és játékrajongók számára izgalmasak, és számos hálózatkezelési funkcióval, amelyek a szórakozást keresőknek fontosak. A képernyőméretek 48-tól 137 cm-ig terjednek, így az új termékvonal a vásárlók széles körének igényeit elégíti ki. Ezen felül bevezetésre kerül az egyedülálló VIERA CAST szolgáltatás is, amely először jelenik meg Európában a Z1, a V10 és a G15 sorozatban.
 
2008-ban a Panasonic bejelentette az új generációs plazmakijelzők ( PDP ) fejlesztését. A PDP elnevezés nyomán ezek a NeoPDP nevet kapták. A meglévő IC technológia és panelstruktúrák gondos átvizsgálásával a Panasonic új foszforréteget és cellakialakítást fejlesztett ki, aminek köszönhetően a kisülés hatásfoka javult, valamint az új áramköri és meghajtó technológiákkal az energiaveszteséget is csökkentették. Az új technológiák a termékvonal zászlóshajójának számító Z1, V10, G15 és G10 sorozatokban jelennek meg.
 
Ennek eredményeképpen a Panasonic javította a mozgókép megjelenítési minőségét, a kontrasztarányt és a színvisszaadást a plazmapaneleken, így eddig soha nem tapasztalt képminőséget ért el. A mozgó képek megjelenítésének javításához a Z1, V10, G15 és G10 sorozatú készülékek a Panasonic 600 Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro (Intelligens képalkotás) technológiáját kapták meg, amely az 1080 sor felbontású mozgókép esetében jelent fejlődést. Még egy gyorsan mozgó tárgy képe is tiszta és éles, a felhasználó pedig valóban lenyügöző élményt élhet át, főleg a rendkívül dinamikus jeleneteknél, mint az autós üldözések, vagy az olyan sportközvetítéseknél, mint az autó- vagy motorversenyek.
 
A Z1, V10, G15 és G10 sorozat készülékei figyelemre méltó, 2.000.000:1-es dinamikus kontrasztaránnyal rendelkeznek, amit a NeoPDP technológia megnövelt fényereje és a Panasonic Real Black Drive System rendszere (amely az egyes cellák felesleges töltését kisüti) tesz lehetővé. Ezekkel a fejlesztésekkel az új modellek képesek „végtelen mély fekete” színt előállítani, amely a rendkívüli képi élményt eredményez.
 
A Z1, V10 és G15 sorozat rendelkeznik a VIERA CAST funkcióval: ezek lesznek az első európai modellek, amelyekbe beépítik ezt a szolgáltatást. A VIERA CAST segítségével a nézők nappalijukban ülve egyetlen gombnyomással érhetnek el bizonyos internetes tartalmakat VIERA TV-jükön, például a Eurosporthoz, a YouTube-hoz és a Picasához hasonlóakat. Egyéb tartalom is elérhető, mint pl. hírek, időjárásjelentés vagy tőzsdei információk. DLNA kapcsolat is lehetséges ezzel a három modellel. A digitális adatok, mint pl. filmek vagy fényképek a számítógépre mentve, szintén elérhetők és lejátszhatók a VIERA készülékeken a házi hálózatot használva. Pl. egy számítógépen tárolt DivX tartalom közvetlenül megjeleníthető a nappaliban a TV-n.
 
A Panasonic minden készülékében továbbfejlesztette az innovatív VIERA Link funkciót is, amelynek köszönhetően a VIERA távvezérlővel vezérelhet más, a VIERA TV-hez csatlakoztatott készülékeket a HDMI kapcsolaton keresztül. A LUMIX digitális fényképezőgépek és a világ első hordozható Blu-ray Disc lejátszója is felkerült a VIERA Link kompatibilis készülékek listájára. Ez azt jelenti, hogy ha egy LUMIX fényképezőgépet csatlakoztat a VIERA TV-hez, a VIERA távvezérlővel vezérelheti a kamerában tárolt digitális fényképek lejátszását. A VIERA Link egyben környezetbarát is, mivel a csatlakoztatott eszközöket automatikusan energiatakarékos intelligens automatikus készenléti üzemmódba kapcsolja. Az új VIERA modellek minden részletükben hüen tükrözik a Panasonic célját, hogy a használat egyszerübb, és a szórakoztatás élménye magasabb színvonalú legyen, miközben a környezetvédelmi szempontok is messzemenően érvényesülnek.
 
A VIERA Image Viewer alkalmazás (beépített SD kártyaolvasó) is megtalálható a 2009-es modellekben. Csak helyezze be az SD kártyát a VIERA olvasójába, és máris indulhat a fényképek és videofelvételek lejátszása. A LUMIX fényképezőgépek és kompatibilis kamkorderek felvételeinek (AVCHD formátum) lejátszására is képes. Az élmény tovább fokozható azzal, ha aláfestő zenét vagy képeffekteket adunk a diavetítéshez.
 
Az ólommentes, 100 ezer üzemórára tervezett plazmapanelekkel a Panasonic továbbra is olyan készülékeket gyárt, amelyek kimagasló környezetvédelmi értékekkel rendelkeznek. Minden ez évi modell környezetbarát és további környezetvédő funkciókkal is felszerelték őket. A gazdaságos üzemmódban a kép fényereje automatikusan csökken a megvilágítási körülményeknek megfelelően, így csökken a fogyasztás is.

Bought this to provide streaming video & play blurays & DVDs (rarely) in master bedroom. No complaints, but rather than mess with arranging for hardwired internet connection or buying a WiFi adapter, bought a Toshiba with built-in WiFi for $10 more. I bought this as my first Blu-ray player when Star Wars was released on Blu-Ray earlier this year. To my surprise, it was very easy to set up. Within ten minutes, I was watching the special features for Return of the Jedi. Standard DVD upconversion provides a great picture as well, even better than expected. With either format, the picture is clear and detailed. The remote and player is easy to use as well. One nice feature that I was unaware of is auto power down. I often fall asleep with a movie playing to help me rest. I can set the sleep timer on my television, and the Blu-Ray player is turned off when I wake up. A great power saving feature. The only downside to this player is the lack of wi-fi. Although it is internet-connectable, it’s a little difficult to run a network cable to the nearest router in the house for downloading updates or to watch Netflix (which I haven’t tried yet).
